ROCKVILLE -- George Edward Alvin Stevens, 88, of Rt. 4, Rockville, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Marguerite Baldwin. He was born Nov. 8, 1874, at Veedersburg, the son of Albert and Millissia Dolph Stevens. Survivors include the daughter-in-law at whose home he died; three sons, Fred of Mecca, Alvin of Texas and Hubert of Valparaiso; two daughters, Mrs. Cora Winebrenner of South Bend and Mrs. Francis Naughgle of Mecca; 23 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. (EST) Sunday at the Methodist Church at Mecca with Rev. J. O. Trousdale officiating. Interment will be in the Hixon Cemetery. Friends may call at Barnes’ Mortuary here after 2 p.m. Saturday. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to services. - kbz
